'PEDRO' TO DRIVE FIESTA R5 IN WRC 2

‘Pedro’ and co-driver Emanuele Baldaccini will take to the wheel of an EcoBoost-powered Ford Fiesta R5 for two seasons in the FIA World Rally Championship’s premier support series, WRC 2.

The two-year signing will see the Italian crew contest five events this season with a further six events in 2020. The pairing will get their campaign underway at next month’s Tour de Corse before further events in Portugal, Germany, Turkey and Spain.

"I have a lot of emotion and satisfaction in being able to give this announcement,” said ‘Pedro.’

“I can say that this is the crowning achievement of a career that has always based its roots in a great passion for rally, but I also see it as a starting point for a new adventure at the highest level of the sport.

“It also shows that even a gentleman driver like me can drive with an official team, and what pleased me most is how I immediately felt like part of the family at M-Sport – first of all comes the human relationship, and then you start to talk about performance.

“They are a team that have no equal. Seeing how they work, how they turn the cars around between events, how they develop them. You immediately understand why M-Sport has such an excellent reputation in the world of motorsport.”

The Italian pairing will run on Pirelli tyres and their first official test will take place next month when ‘Pedro’ returns to England for a private asphalt test. A further gravel test is planned in Greystoke forest before his opening loose-surface round in Portugal.

"I am aware that there will be much for me to learn this season,” concludes ‘Pedro.’

“I will compete with a new car in events that I have never contested before. But I remain calm, because I have one of the best teams in the world to support me and follow my growth. I could not ask for anything else, and I cannot wait to start this fantastic adventure.”
