M-Sport Ford World Rally Team is pleased to confirm that Latvian driver Mārtiņš Sesks will return to the cockpit of the Ford Puma Rally1 for the final round of the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship on Rally Saudi Arabia.
Sesks will take on the inaugural edition of WRC Rally Saudi Arabia, aiming to harness his strong form on loose surfaces and continue his upward trajectory at the sport’s highest level. Sesks quickly firmed his place as one of the rising stars in the sport throughout the 2024 and 2025 seasons, enjoying support from across the rally community and the WRC Promoter.
The 25-year-old Latvian has competed in six WRC events this season as he tackled a partial championship programme with M-Sport. Across the year, Sesks has demonstrated clear development and growing confidence in the Rally1 car, delivering promising performances with sixth place in Rally Sweden and top-eight finishes at Rally Estonia and Rally Finland.
Outside the WRC, Sesks returned to familiar territory, taking the win on Rally Poland in the FIA European Rally Championship in June. Sesks’ achievements on European gravel have marked him as one of the most exciting rising stars of 2024 and 2025, following memorable drives on his home event, Rally Latvia, and across the European stages.
Sesks delivered standout performances in 2024, finishing fifth overall on his debut in the Puma Rally1 at Rally Poland while running a non-hybrid specification. He returned to the team for Rally Latvia, this time equipped with full-hybrid power, and claimed his first two WRC stage wins.
Sesks will once again be joined by co-driver Renārs Francis, continuing a partnership that has carried them through both the ERC and WRC categories. The pair will line up alongside M-Sport Ford teammates Grégoire Munster / Louis Louka and Josh McErlean / Eoin Treacy, as the team takes on the final outing of the 2025 season.
Mārtiņš Sesks said:
“I’m very grateful for the support and encouragement we’ve received from our sponsors and fans. We all believed the seventh round would go ahead, and now we’re heading to Jeddah to make the most of everything the WRC season can offer. With no opportunity for pre-event testing, we’ll need to adapt to the conditions and draw on the insights we gain from the shakedown. I also think the participation of Nasser Al-Attiyah, and his experience in these parts, is a real bonus for the M-Sport team.”
M-Sport Ford Team Principal Richard Millener said:
“Mārtiņš has impressed us this season with his pace, maturity and approach to learning the Rally1 car. His results in Sweden, Estonia and Finland show he has real potential on loose-surface events, and Rally Saudi Arabia will be another opportunity for him to demonstrate that, especially as it is a new event for all. We’re delighted to have him back in the Puma for the season finale.”
The debut of Rally Saudi Arabia marks an exciting new chapter for the FIA World Rally Championship, with challenging desert stages set to test drivers and teams in a completely new environment. M-Sport Ford and Sesks are ready to take on the challenge and close the 2025 season on a positive note.
