SENIOR MACHINIST

ABOUT THE ROLE

​

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Machinist to join our busy Machine Shop Department.

​

As a Senior Machinist at M-Sport UK, you will be responsible for creating bespoke parts for a variety of our high-performance competition cars and completing components to precise custom specifications. You’ll collaborate with team members to meet priorities and deadlines, programme and operate various machines, inspect components and correct changes. 

​

The role responsibilities include:

​

  • Setting and Operating 3 and 5 axis CNC Machining Centres and Lathes,

  • Writing and proving programs using HyperMill, Fanuc and Heidenhain controls.

  • Maintain and control a current tool inventory.

  • Checking and maintaining lubricants and coolant levels.

  • Operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and hand drills.

  • Work with jigs and fixtures.

  • Machine parts to our specifications, record contract documentation, complete time sheets correctly and maintain a high standard of workmanship.

  • Ensure parts proceed to the next process with correct labelling procedures.

  • Training and mentoring Junior Machinists, sharing knowledge to ensure best practice for future development.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

​

We’re looking for a self-motivated team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. The ideal candidate will be:

​

  • Educated to a Level 3 certificate or equivalent qualification in Machining. Along with having an excellent knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.

  • Confident programming CNC machines with previous experience in a similar environment as a CNC Operator.

  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and inspect your own work on both small and large batches using various materials to tight tolerances.

  • Skilled in multitasking and prioritising workloads under pressure.

  • Excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for problem solving.

  • Computer literate with strong MS Office skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

 

Previous Experience:

​

  • Two years proven experience in a machine shop environment, especially in a senior or leader role within precision engineering.
