ABOUT THE ROLE

​

Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers championship-winning programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally-Raid, GT racing and a variety of global customer racing activities.

​

We are looking to recruit a passionate and driven Engine Engineer to join our expanding Engine Engineering department at our Dovenby Hall headquarters.​ This role plays a key part in the development, validation, optimisation and support of high-performance competition engines. Working closely with design, build, test and operations teams, you will contribute to delivering the performance, reliability and innovation required to compete at the highest level of motorsport.

The role responsibilities include:

​

• Engine Development & Validation: Support the development and validation of high-performance internal combustion engines across multiple motorsport programmes.

• Data Analysis & Calibration: Conduct detailed data analysis, engine calibration, dyno testing and performance correlation activities to optimise engine performance and reliability.

• Technical Problem Solving: Work collaboratively with Design and Engine Build teams to identify, investigate and resolve complex engineering challenges.

• Performance Reporting: Prepare detailed post-event reports and technical bulletins, including performance, reliability and operational analysis.

• Dyno & Build Support: Provide hands-on engineering support during engine build activities, dyno testing and development programmes.

• Event Engineering Support: Support event operations through performance monitoring, fault diagnosis and technical decision-making in high-pressure environments.

• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing development of engine systems, processes and methodologies to improve performance and efficiency across all programmes.

Essential Criteria & Skills

​

• Engineering Qualification: Educated to BEng or MEng degree level in Motorsport Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Engine Knowledge: A thorough understanding of internal combustion engines and associated systems.

• Motorsport Passion: A genuine passion for motorsport and a strong desire to develop a career within elite-level competition engineering.

• Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to engineering challenges.

• Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

• Communication & Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.

• Performance Under Pressure: Ability to work to demanding deadlines whilst maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

 

Preferred Experience:

​

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar engine engineering role within motorsport. This can be within circuit racing, rallying, rally-raid or other high-performance automotive environments would be advantageous.

• Previous experience of engine calibration, dyno operation, data analysis or trackside/event engineering support is desirable.
