BODYWORK TECHNICIAN

ABOUT THE ROLE

Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers championship-winning programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally-Raid, and a variety of global customer racing activities.

We are looking to recruit a skilled and enthusiastic Bodywork Technician to join our growing in-house Bodywork Department at our Dovenby Hall headquarters. This role plays a key part in the production, preparation and maintenance of high-quality bodywork and composite components that contribute directly to the performance, reliability and appearance of our competition vehicles. Working closely with technicians, engineers and production staff, you will help ensure our cars are prepared to the highest standards for testing and competition.

The role can be filled on a full or part-time basis, and a flexible approach to working hours can be considered for the right candidate.

The role responsibilities include:

  • Composite Assembly & Preparation: Assemble, trim and prepare carbon fibre and composite components to the highest standards.

  • Inspection & Repair: Carry out strip-down, inspection and repair activities following events, identifying and reporting any faults or damage.

  • Technical Documentation: Work from technical drawings, patterns and build documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Panel Repair & Maintenance: Support the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of carbon fibre and GRP bodywork components.

  • Component Finishing: Prepare components for painting, assembly and final fitment to competition vehicles.

  • Quality Standards: Maintain exceptional levels of workmanship and attention to detail across all bodywork activities.

  • Workshop Support: Work collaboratively with Technicians, Engineers and Production teams to meet demanding project and event deadlines.

We’re looking for a self-motivated team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. 

Essential Criteria & Skills:

  • Technical Understanding: Educated to technician level, with an understanding of bodywork, composites, motorsport or a related discipline.

  • Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and accurately follow build documentation.

  • Attention to Detail: Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

  • Time Management: Strong ability to multitask, prioritise workloads and work effectively to tight deadlines.

  • Problem Solving: Practical and proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Flexible Approach: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and support the wider team when required.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Panel Beater, Vehicle Body Repair Technician, Road Car Mechanic, Motorsport Technician or in a similar hands-on technical role.
