BENTLEY WINS PAUL RICARD 1000KMS

The Bentley Continental GT3 has won the 2019 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup Paul Ricard 1000kms with Bentley Team M-Sport and team drivers Jordan Pepper, Steven Kane and Jules Gounon. It was a case of returning to unfinished business for the trio, who celebrated a year of racing together this weekend. In last years’ event at Le Castellet they were cruelly robbed of the victory on the final lap when a bonnet pin came loose and hampered Gounon’s vision. Determined to take the win this year, the #107 crew qualified on pole and all drove faultlessly to take the chequered flag after six hours of racing. The #108 Continental GT3 driven by Andy Soucek, Maxime Soulet and Callum Macleod fought back from 20th place on the starting grid to cross the line in fifth place. The Team Parker Racing car was involved in an early incident, but the team worked hard to return it to the track, and it crossed the line in seventh position in the Pro-Am class. “This victory tastes extra sweet,” said Bentley’s Director of Motorsport Brian Gush. “This track holds many good memories for us – in six races, we have taken three wins and two second place finishes – but after missing the top spot so narrowly last year, we all wanted to come here and put right that wrong. “As well as coming here to win a race, we came here to prepare for the 24 Hours of Spa and I think we have done that this weekend. There’s still some work to do, so we can’t rest on our laurels, but we’re pleased with our performance here at Paul Ricard.” The fourth round of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, the 24 Hours of Spa, is also the third round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge and takes place on the 26-28th July.
