Alessandro Bettega to drive Ford Focus WRC on the Rally Varaita Valley
Alessandro Bettega, 2006 Fiesta SportingTrophy International Champion, will make his debut in a WRC car on the Rally of Valley Varaita and Valley Cuneesi on 14/15 September. On this occasion, the TRT driver, always partnered by his co-driver Simone Scattolin, is going to race a Ford Focus WRC 02 of Errepi Racing with Pirelli tyres.
The TRT Team has decided to enter Bettega in the fifth trial of the International Rally Cup to give him the chance to gain experience with the technology of the WRC car, in anticipation for the WRC Tour de Corse (12-14 October), where the young driver from Trentino, Italy will be on the starting line with an official M-Sport Ford Focus WRC06.
Alessandro Bettega said “The race on the Focus WRC of Errepi is for me a first contact on the tarmac with an unknown car, which is for sure much more powerful and sophisticated of those I have being driving until now. I will have no interest in the classification itself but the real aim will be for me to race as many kilometres as possible to understand motor, trim, technology and tyres. Afterwards, we are going to take part to some tests with an M-Sport Focus WRC in Great Britain, where I will have the possibility to compare myself with the English technicians too. In the meantime, we are still thinking about the World Rally of Spain, which takes place only one week before the Tour de Corse, with a Super 1600 car.”
The Rally of Valle Varaita and Valli Cuneesi, the fifth trial of the International Rally Cup will be on the 14/15 September. It will feature eleven special stages (three on Friday, eight on Saturday), all on tarmac, for 124 km, a total of 457 km. The rally will be based around the Cuneese Valley of Saluzzese (Bronda, Varaita, Mala, Maira, Grana, Stura, Gesso) and the big Valley of Roaschia, on the gates of Cuneo, reaching Sapeyre, Dronero, Caraglio, Demonte and Valdieri.
