FST UK series boosted with world-class prize incentive
Registered co-drivers competing in this year’s VK Fiesta SportingTrophy UK series will now be competing for a chance to win an invaluable one-to-one training and development session with 2001 World Champion co-driver Robert Reid.
Reid, now Performance Director of the renowned MSA British Rally Elite and Academy schemes, has been involved with the UK version of the one-make championship since its inception in 2006 through his junior development programs.
The prize will hope to bring greater recognition for those in the navigational seat and is being offered by Reid in an effort to help the continued establishment of world-class British co-drivers.
This prize will be awarded to the 2008 UK FST champion co-driver as the series continues to offer an exceptional incentives package to all involved. The award comprises of a full-day with the world champion co-driver covering all aspects of the job and the finer points required to compete at the sports elite level.
Reid and the late Richard Burns began their career together in a controlled one-make championship in 1990 much similar to M-Sport’s FST product – ten years later they became rallying’s number one.
This fabulous opportunity is on offer to all registered UK FST co-drivers and registration is open throughout the year with five of the six rounds counting towards overall championship points with the ‘drop-score’ rule in place.
2001 World Champion co-Driver Robert Reid said:
“The Fiesta SportingTrophy is a fantastic series and hopefully this prize will encourage more young British talent into the navigator’s seat. Richard and I began our career in a very competitive one-make championship and the current FST more than serves as a modern equivalent. Competitive one-make championships are definitely the place to make a name for yourself as there are always hard-fought battles along with great opportunities to progress in the sport. Over the past two years I have seen several guys further their rally careers through competing in FST championships and hopefully this prize will help the development of talented young co-drivers in the UK.”
