Competitors unite to cap-off successful FST UK series

Last Saturday the Daventry Hotel played host to the 2007 Vodka Kick supported Fiesta SportingTrophy UK awards evening running in conjunction with the national ANCRO awards. Competitors from across the UK and Northern Ireland united for the final time this year to acknowledge winning crews and team efforts throughout the season.

The star of the evening and indeed of the championship was 19-year-old Jonathan Greer from Carryduff, Belfast who received the keys to a new Ford Fiesta ST road car for his win in UK series this year. Adding to the trophy room, Greer and co-driver Jonny Hart also took home the crystal for winning the 2007 ANCRO supported Hankook Forest Rally Challenge

Receiving a Dublin Crystal trophy was Alastair Fisher for his second place finish in the 2007 championship. The Enniskillen lad adds yet another trophy to the cabinet after winning the Irish FST series this year.

Third in the UK FST, second in the Forest Rally Challenge and winner of the Motorsport News Media Award was Welshman Elfyn Evans. Fresh from his class win in the recent WRC event, Wales Rally GB, 18-year-old Evans received a unique Motorsport News front page for the best use of media exposure.

Tom Walster took the Castrol Hard Charger Award for the most stage wins this year and receives a selection of Castrol merchandise for his achievement.

Clive Hilton and his team received a Karcher K2 power washer for the best presented car in the championship.

Barry Greer, brother to Jonathan, received the Competition Car Insurance Award for best improvement on seeding and receives an amazing prize of three, days testing on the frozen lakes of Sweden.

The M-Sport ‘Spirit of the Rally’ Award went to Englishman James Everard for his commitment and enthusiasm this year; he receives free registration to the 2008 season.

The prize of one return ferry transfer from Ireland went to Liam Regan who picked up the Allsports Logistics prize for finishing the highest placed overseas driver outside the top-three. The Irishman finished fifth in this year’s championship.

Regan’s service crew also won the M-Sport ‘Team of the Year’ prize taking home a raft of BP-Ford World Rally Team merchandise.
