Wilson receives Lifetime Contribution to Cumbria award

Every year the Cumbria Business Awards will seek to recognise someone who has made significant contribution to Cumbria through business. This year’s winner Malcolm Wilson has made a spectacular impact on the region with his business and sporting career.

With more than 20 years' experience in rallying at a World Championship level. As a driver and now as director of the BP-Ford World Rally team at its magnificent Dovenby Hall headquarters.

The 2007 Cumbria Business awards were hosted by CFM’s Robbie Dee last Thursday (29 November). The exclusive black tie event was held at the Hundith Hill Hotel in Cockermouth and was sponsored by Washington Group International.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to celebrate their success and the organisers produced a night to remember. Next years event promises to be bigger and better. Jodie Law from Cumbria Media commented “The quality of the entries ensured the judging process was not easy. Once the final decisions had been made we went all out to deliver a top quality event that nobody would forget”.

“We must congratulate all short listed companies and a very well done to all of the award winners.”

In 2006, M-Sport won the FIA Manufacturers' World Rally Championship title. And last weekend saw M-Sport winning the Manufacturers Championship for the second consecutive year, at Rally Ireland – many congratulations to Malcolm and the team.

The judges agreed that Malcolm has made a fantastic contribution to Cumbria and is an ambassador for Cumbria.

He is an outstanding Cumbrian.
