“Every driver is going very fast here and the battle is really close. The stages are quite fast so it’s difficult to pull a lot of time, but we have more to give. Generally the car feels very good, but we can do some work on the set-up to make the balance even better.

“This afternoon I’m sure it will be rough. It will be interesting to see as we were only fourth on the road and some places were getting quite tricky already. How rough, nobody knows, so we will need to think clever and keep that margin.”

“I have to say that I’m happy with my morning. The car feels good and we gave it the maximum we possibly could. We were always going to lose time opening the road, so to be in fifth place and just 4.8 seconds off the lead is a very good morning for us.”

“It’s been an okay morning. The first stage [SS2] wasn’t perfect as the grip levels were quite mixed and I struggled to find a good rhythm off the back of that. Some splits were good and then in others we struggled.

“The second stage [SS3] was a bit better, but at the end of the long one [SS4] we got a puncture about six kilometres from the end. There’s still a very long way to go, so let’s keep our heads down and see what we can do.”
