Hokkanen leads the way after winter season

The winter season of this year’s Finnish Fiesta SportTrophy (FST) finished at the Tahko Rally in the Tahkovuori region of Kuopio.

Miika Hokkanen has led the Ford Motorcraft FST throughout the winter season, and he now has two wins and a second place to his name – all of which translate into a 17 point lead in the standings.

The 20 year old driver from Lahti dominated his class at the Tahko Rally to claim victory with over a minute’s advantage.

“This was great way to end the winter rallies,” said Hokkanen after the event. “I really enjoyed these snow conditions and everything ran perfectly.” The Finn now also holds second place in the Finnish Championship.

Niko Mäkinen finished second in class after a turbo issue prevented him from matching Hokkanen’s speed.

Behind the top duo was another young driver – Jani Luhtaniemi – who finished third in the FST class. The 19 year old made his debut in the class only last autumn and has now secured two podium finishes.

Fourth placed Markus Manninen was also happy to get a good result and solid points on his first event of the season.

The series continues on gravel roads with the Riihimäki Rally in May.
