The FordFiesta SportTrophy [FST] is a one-make championship that aims to provide an economical, well-regulated, uniform and fun environment for all competitors. There are currently ten national FST championships globally - in Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, Russia and the UK - with a further 2 series planned for the 2012 season - in Latvia and Spain.
With 280 cars sold across 27 different countries, the concept was previously based around the hugely successful GpN FordFiesta ST, which recieved world-wide recognition on performance and durability and became the perfect learning tool for the young and inexperienced.
Making its debut in 2010, the knowledge gained from the development of the GpN Fiesta ST, as well as the world-title winning Ford Focus RS WRC, was transferred to the development of the FordFiesta R2 - Ford and M-Sport's first global rally car and the principle step on Ford's 'Ladder of Opportunity.'

In turn, each national Championship forms the initial means by which young and aspiring drivers might make the first ‘step’ on Ford's ‘Ladder of Opportunity’.
Thereafter, drivers are encouraged to step up to feeder series' at International level such as the FIA WRC Academy - which provides the stars of tomorrow with an unrivalled opportunity to develop their talent, cost-effectively, on the world stage - before climbing Ford's 'ladder' to pilot the FordFiesta S2000, the FordFiesta RRC and, eventually, the FordFiesta RS WRC.
As such, the FST reinforces the system that Ford and M-Sport have put in place to support young drivers from the grass roots up to the top epsilons of international rallying.
