| Kuldar Sikk |
Kuldar Sikk first embarked upon a career in co-driving in 1999. Sitting in the navigators’ seat of a Ford Sierra Cosworth on a local Estonian rally, the then 20-year-old was hooked. Sikk continued to compete in national rallies until 2003 when he made his first venture onto the world stage. Partnering fellow Estonian Urmo Aava, Sikk contested the J-WRC from 2003 through to 2007 before embarking on a full WRC campaign in 2008 and 2009. The Estonian pairing claimed the runner-up spot in the 2007 edition of the J-WRC – just five points adrift of the series’ only double world champions, P-G and Jonas Andersson (unrelated). Contesting at the top level of competition, Sikk claimed his best result to date at the 2008 Rally d'Italia Sardegna with eighth place overall. In 2010, Sikk parted ways with Aava for fellow Estonian and rising star, Ott Tänak. Competing in the P-WRC as part of the Pirelli Star Driver scheme, the pairing claimed victory at Neste Oil Rally Finland as well as Wales Rally GB. Despite only contesting four out of a possible nine events, the duo finished the season an impressive fourth overall. Continuing his professional partnership with Tänak, Sikk moved onto the S-WRC for the 2011 season. Taking victory on Rally d'Italia Sardegna, ADAC Rallye Deutschland and Rallye de France Alsace – as well as podium finishes in Mexico and Finland – the pairing took the championship fight down to the final round. Despite having to settle for the runner-up stop, the Estonian was rewarded with a drive in the Ford Fiesta RS WRC alongside Tänak for the 2011 edition of Wales Rally GB. Incurring problems early on in the event, the duo impressed and Sikk secured his best ever WRC result with sixth place overall. Embarking on a full 13-round WRC campaign in 2012, Sikk rejoins Tänak as the pairing lead the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team behind the wheel of their Ford Fiesta RS WRC.
