In 2013, M-Sport embarked on a brand-new venture. Having mastered the stages of the FIA World Rally Championship, the Cumbrian outfit caught the eye of Bentley Motors and was selected to spearhead the design and development of the Continental GT3 race car as the luxury firm’s technical partner.
Working closely with Bentley, M-Sport created one of the industry’s most anticipated returns to racing. Drawing upon the firm’s world-class design and engineering facilities, the first car was completed in just six months and made its first public appearance at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of speed.
The M-Sport Bentley team embarked on their first full season in the Blancpain Endurance series at the beginning of 2014. Recognition was swift and the Bentley Boys of car seven racked up victories at both Silverstone and Paul Ricard to secure the runner-up spot in both the drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships – a feat they repeated the following year.
The M-Sport project is spearheaded by Race Manager, Matthew Wilson, and a number of skills from the stages have been transitioned onto the racetrack – making the M-Sport Bentley team one of the most determined and intuitive in the business.
The Bentley Continental GT3 is now also the car of choice for a number of works-supported teams around the globe.
